Course Description and Goal:

            The Nail Technician Course offer students an introduction to nail structure and manicuring and pedicuring techniques with an opportunity to apply these skills in the student clinic. Also included in the course is sculptured nail application and maintenance, nail wrappings for strength and ready to wear nails. Completion of this course will prepare a graduate to take the State Board Examination to become a licensed nail technician.

Evaluation Procedures:

1.      Testing in theory, practical and clinic areas

2.      Examinations after each unit of the course

3.      Monthly practical/clinic workshop

4.      Final examination

 

Course Goals:

1.      Students will receive an education in both theory and practical experience and gain knowledge in all phases of cosmetology.

2.      To prepare students to successfully pass the State Board Examinations.

3.      To prepare students to work in a professional salon as a licensed nail technician.

4.      To perform in manicure-related occupations.

5.      To develop employer/employee relationships and effective communication skills.

 

Achievement Level Requirement:  

            All students are required to maintain at least a 75% grade point average in theory, and at least a 2 in practical and clinic subjects in order to be eligible to receive a diploma.
