Objective: Concentrate on the health, care and attractiveness of the skin and on the artistic uses of cosmetics. It is designed to prepare the student for careers in the - diversifies areas of skin care including cosmetic industry. Upon completion of the course, the student is qualified for employment in the following occupations: Skin care specialist, make-up artist, or in any other profession requiring a general knowledge of Make-up Artistry & Skin Care.
Course Format (Instructional Techniques and Methods): 1. Lecture 2. Practical Demonstrations 3. Audio-Visual Material 4. Practical and Theory Worksheets 5. Illustrations 6. Written and Practical Evaluation
Evaluation Procedures: 1. Testing in Theory, Practical and Clinic Areas 2. Examinations after each Unit of the Course 3. Monthly Practical/Clinic Workshop 4. Final Examination
Course Goals: 1. Student will receive an education in both theory and practical experience and gain knowledge in all phases of cosmetology. 2. To prepare student to successfully pass the State Board Examinations. 3. To prepare student to work in a professional salon as a licensed esthetician. 4. To perform in esthetician-related occupations. 5. To develop employer/employee relationships and effective communication skills.
Achievement Level Requirement: All students are required to maintain at least a 75% grade point average in theory, and at least a 2 in practical and clinic subjects in order to be eligible to receive a diploma.
